Meteor Crater, AZ
This crater is over 4000 feet across and 550 feet deep. Twenty football fields would fit easily on the floor while the walls could hold thousands of spectators. Continue reading Meteor Crater, AZ

The beginning of the trail is very wide, flat and easy. It heads toward the beautiful Superstition Mountains and goes through a zigzag gate at the fence for the Tonto National Forest. After this, we came to the Lost Goldmine Trail where some people use this to get to the Wave Cave from Lost Goldmine Trailhead. We did see WC painted on a rock with an arrow left. Instead of turning left, we went straight ahead on a narrow, much less used trail, with zero signage. Continue reading Shaka Cave
We finally found time and had good weather to hike to the Wave Cave near Gold Canyon, Arizona. I had read about it and seen photos. Continue reading Wave Cave Hike

Because of it’s remoteness, White Pocket is a wonderful environment bursting with eye candy and few other people. Continue reading White Pocket, AZ
I won the lottery to hike the Wave in Arizona. Seen by only a few adventurous souls each day, the Wave must be seen to be appreciated. Continue reading The Wave
We heard there were burrowing owls at Zanjero Park, so we decided to take our morning walk there in hopes of seeing them. We met a photographer on the trail who said two pairs were nesting in the far back corner. Continue reading Zanjero Park
We revisited the Riparian Preserve as there always seems to be something interesting. One night, I will return for some star shots. The turtles were sunning themselves near the bridge. Lucky we got this close to one that was perched on the edge of an old post. Natural, un-trimmed palm tree branches shade the trunk from the hot sun. This bush had some buds getting … Continue reading Gilbert’s Riparian Preserve
