Avonlea Badlands

I had the privilege again, of leading a group of interested people into the amazing Avonlea Badlands.

It was evening and we all wanted to see this wonderful landscape during the “golden hour” – that’s half an hour before sunset until half an hour after sunset.

This large hoodoo looks fantastic bathed in golden light.

The upper hoodoos are accentuated by shadows in the rivulets.

Wait! Is that an Oreo cookie?

The evening glow looks great on this wall of erosion.

We came around the corner just in time to see the sun begin to set.

Natural landforms are truly amazing!

Even the cattle wanted to pose for us and get in on the action. How Saskatchewan is that?!

I love these ripples in a dried up puddle. The mud had crusted and peeled like old paint.

These canine tracks in the dried bentonite had some long claws. I love this place and I will be back.
